Safety

&

Authenticity

The Old Bedford Village Old West Event is a pre-1900 themed, reenacting and living history event.  Participants are required to make every effort to design their impressions with that in mind.  Modern weapons and clothing, no matter how western in appearance, are substandard to the intent of the event.  The enforcement of these standards will take place with friendly encouragement, but will become a requirement for attendance at future events.

Reenacting and living history is an expensive learning experience.  Nobody wants to intentionally be a FARB.  We have a responsibility to one another to encourage evolution in authenticity.  It rarely happens overnight.

Friends don't let friends be farbs.

SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY

ALL participants must abide by ALL safety standards.  Only bring BLANK ammunition may be brought to the event. All participants must submit their "ammunition" to event organizers for inspection.  Any and all firearms (real or blank-firing-only) must be brought and maintained in mechanically sound and safe operating condition.  Any "firearm" that shows signs of malfunction, including keeping the bore free of any obstructions that may present a safety hazard MUST be taken out of service (use ceased).  Failing to abide by ANY of these safety regulations and procedures or disregarding the safety instructions of any of the event staff will result in the participant's expulsion from the event.

Put bluntly, if you can't abide by safety regulations, you don't belong at this (or any) reenacting/living history event.
